Legislative Update

9 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.

Jim Russell will discuss issues relavant to LAUSD.  The end of AB 3632 and the start of AB114, what that means for your district and your job and other legislative issues will be discussed during this session.

Jim Russell will debunk many myths, one main myth that Credentialed School Psychologists cannot become County Mental Health Providers.  As a previous Superintendent, he will discuss how Licensed Social Workers or Clinical Psychologists are not the only LAUSD employees eligible to become County Mental Health providers for direct funding options.

Jim Russell will provide data on Federal laws and State Legislative updates. You will learn how previous state laws prevented school districts from accessing Medi-Cal funds, requiring districts to access categorical funds to pay for salaries for the same psychological services local community based organizations provide to their clients.

Jim Russell, CASP Legislative Chair, will lead the discussion.
